Poco has launched the X8 Power in India at a starting price of ₹35,999, marking the brand's first smartphone in the country to feature a 10,000mAh battery. The device is designed to provide long battery life without adopting the bulky build of a rugged phone, measuring 8.65 mm thick and weighing 223 grams. It runs on a Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 processor and features a 6.83-inch 120Hz 1.5K AMOLED screen with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection and a peak brightness of 3,500 nits. The phone includes an IP69K rating for dust and water resistance and a vegan leather back on the yellow variant.

Performance And Camera

In testing, the handset held about 40 to 45 percent of its charge after an average workday and lasted roughly two days with moderate use, scoring 26 hours and 44 minutes in the PCMark battery test. It supports 100W charging to fill the large battery in 30 to 50 minutes, alongside 27W reverse charging to power other devices. For storage, the 256GB model is priced at ₹38,999 and comes with faster UFS 4.1 storage and LPDDR5X RAM, while the 128GB variant uses UFS 2.2 storage. The camera setup includes a 50MP Sony IMX882 primary sensor, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 16MP front-facing camera, with both the rear and front cameras supporting 4K video recording at 30 frames per second. Geekbench 7 tests recorded 915 points in single-core and 2,851 points in multi-core evaluations.

Software And Support

Poco is offering four years of operating system updates and six years of security updates for the X8 Power. The phone operates on HyperOS 3 built on Android, featuring stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos. Pre-installed software includes the Indus Appstore, which cannot be uninstalled, while Glance is turned off by default. Pragya, a technology reporter, rated the device 7.3 out of 10.

Context

Smartphone manufacturers regularly introduce specialized models aimed at addressing specific consumer pain points, such as battery anxiety during long travel days. High-capacity batteries often add physical weight and thickness to mobile devices, prompting brands to balance endurance with everyday ergonomic design. Extended software support windows of four to six years have also become a common industry strategy to increase device longevity in competitive mid-range markets.
