Ramayana Part 1 netted Rs 64.85 crore in India on its opening Thursday, across 25,200 shows. The Hindi version contributed Rs 47.50 crore from 20,678 shows, while the Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam versions earned Rs 7.25 crore, Rs 6 crore, Rs 2.60 crore and Rs 1.50 crore respectively. Overall gross rose to Rs 77.50 crore. 3D shows saw an average occupancy of 33.96% versus 27.79% for 2D shows, a dip likely due to Thursday being a working day. Footfall and earnings are expected to improve as the Diwali holidays begin. The film outperformed Pathaan (Rs 57 crore) and Animal (Rs 63 crore) but lagged behind Jawan (Rs 75 crore) and Dhurandhar 2 (Rs 102 crore). It also fell short of the earlier Ramayana adaptation Adipurush. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the ensemble cast includes Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sai Pallavi, Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi, Arun Govil, Ravie Dubey, Lara Dutta and Sunny Deol. Sony Pictures handles overseas distribution, with the film released on more than 50,000 screens in 100 countries. The two‑part saga was made on a combined budget of Rs 4,000 crore, and the sequel is slated for 2028. Trade tracker Sacnilk reported about 2,55,775 tickets sold on day 1, placing the opening at the 13th‑largest in Indian cinema history. The list ahead includes Pushpa 2 (Rs 164.25 crore) and RRR (Rs 133 crore) among others.
Context
Multi‑language releases help Indian blockbusters tap regional audiences, and Diwali holidays traditionally boost cinema footfall, so collections often rise after the opening weekday.
