Reported by Harshdeep Singh (Fact-Checker) · Rushlane ·
Yamaha unveiled its premium electric scooter NMAX E at the EICMA 2026 show, with sales slated for Spring 2027.
Launch
Yamaha showcased three adventure scooters (RW700, RW700 Explore, RW350) and two electric models (Xenter E, NMAX E) at EICMA 2026. The NMAX E is the highlight, built on a dedicated EV platform and a new backbone chassis. Yamaha plans to start sales in Spring 2027, though an Indian launch is still unconfirmed.
Specs
The scooter carries the sport‑ready look of the MAX family and will be available in Avio Blue or Platinum Silver. It features dual LED headlamps, compact turn indicators, a roomy footboard and under‑seat storage that fits a full‑face helmet. Riders get a 5‑inch TFT display, smartphone link via the Yamaha Motor On app, turn‑by‑turn navigation, traction control, a smart key and ABS. A reverse function and three riding modes – Sport for quick acceleration, Touring for balanced response and Eco for maximum efficiency – let users tune performance. The bike sits on 13‑inch wheels with 110/70 front and 130/70 rear tyres, a seat height of 770 mm, and a claimed 50:50 front‑rear weight balance. Braking uses 245 mm discs front and rear, assisted by regenerative braking. Suspension comprises 33 mm telescopic forks up front and twin shock absorbers at the rear, while an Accelerator Position Sensor Grip manages throttle input.
Context
The NMAX E joins a growing Indian premium e‑scooter market that already includes Ather 450X, TVS iQube ST and Bajaj Chetak, reflecting Yamaha’s push for greener mobility and stronger performance in the electric two‑wheel segment.
