Reported by Faizan Khan (Staff Writer) · Livemint - Markets ·
Shares of Vellora Impact Limited locked in a five percent upper circuit during the Friday trading session after opening at 10 rupees and 16 paise per share on the BSE. The microcap stock has now hit the upper circuit for three straight trading sessions.
Financial Growth
The strong market movement follows the company's financial results for the second quarter and the first half of the financial year. Revenue from operations for the first half of fiscal year 2027 jumped to 290 crore and 56 lakh rupees, compared to 3 crore and 33 lakh rupees in the same period last year. Net profit grew about three times to 12 crore and 63 lakh rupees from 4 crore and 49 lakh rupees.
Segment Performance
The diversified firm transitioned from chemical manufacturing to agriculture and IT services in January 2026. Agricultural produce trading brought in 279 crore and 42 lakh rupees during the first half, while IT-enabled services added 11 crore and 14 lakh rupees. Managing Director Sumit Harjibhai Gol stated that the early traction reflects strong market demand for these new business verticals.
Context
Penny stocks often see rapid price movements following major earnings reports or business pivots. Companies that successfully transition into growing sectors like agriculture and IT can attract strong retail interest if their reported numbers show sudden improvement.
