JSW MG Motor India has launched the new Hector Storm Series, featuring the Blackstorm and Snowstorm special edition SUVs, each priced at Rs 19,99,800 or roughly Rs 20 lakh, ex-showroom. Compared to the top-spec Savvy Pro CVT variants, these limited-run models carry a price premium of Rs 35,000, while the wider Hector range starts from Rs 11.99 lakh.
Exterior And Design
As the names suggest, the Blackstorm Edition comes with an all-black exterior finish, whereas the Snowstorm model features a Pearl White body paired with a contrasting Starry Night finish for the roof. Both versions receive an all-black Storm Hex grille, front and rear bumper garnishes, and Aura Storm Blade alloy wheels fitted with red brake calipers. Dark chrome detailing extends to the brand logos, skid plates, tailgate accents, and body-side cladding, alongside piano-black roof rails, LED headlamps with piano-black bezels, and smoked connected tail lamps.
Interior And Features
Inside, the cabin features Nimbus Black themes combining black leather upholstery, dark cabin accents, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with a gunmetal finish. The edition names are embossed on the front seat headrests. Buyers can also opt for a Storm Series accessory package fitted at dealerships at no additional cost, which includes edition-specific badges, a red tailgate accent, fog-lamp surrounds, outside rearview mirror protectors with red accents, and side steps. The feature list retains a 14-inch portrait HD touchscreen with Smart Boost technology, i-SWIPE gesture controls, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, eight-colour ambient lighting, an automatic powered tailgate, and an air purifier with a PM2.5 filter.
Powertrain And Safety
Under the hood, both editions use a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that generates 143 horsepower or PS and 250 Nm of torque, paired exclusively with a CVT automatic gearbox with no manual option available. The vehicles are offered only in a 5-seater configuration, leaving out the 7-seat layout. Safety equipment includes advanced driver assistance systems or ADAS, a 360-degree HD camera with Wheel View, ABS with EBD, electronic stability program, traction control, hill hold control, and brake assist. Buyers also receive MG Shield's standard 3+3+3 package, offering a three-year warranty with unlimited kilometres, three years of roadside assistance, and three labour-free periodic services.
Context
Special edition vehicle variants are frequently introduced by automakers to boost festive or seasonal sales by offering cosmetic upgrades and cosmetic styling packages without altering the core mechanical platform. The MG Hector has established a strong presence in the midsize SUV segment in India since its initial debut, competing against multiple popular rivals. Special styling trims like these allow carmakers to appeal directly to buyers looking for distinct visual road presence.
