Reported by Varun Krishnan (Senior Writer) · The Hindu - National ·
Three-day agricultural fair will go ahead at GKVK in Bengaluru, despite talks of cutting it to one day, Agriculture Minister P. M. Narendraswamy said on Friday. He noted the state is facing drought, but the event will run the usual three days. The fair aims to show farmers new technologies and ways to cope with water shortage. A similar three‑day program is planned for Mandya. Earlier, three‑day fairs were also held at the agricultural universities in Shivamogga and Dharwad, where thousands of growers learned about new crop varieties and drought‑management methods. The Bengaluru edition will feature demonstrations of innovative equipment and seed varieties suited to dry conditions. Farmers from across Karnataka are expected to attend to get practical advice.
Context
These fairs are part of the government's effort to spread modern farming practices during a period of low rainfall in Karnataka.
