Mahindra Automotive Sector CEO Rajesh Jejurikar has confirmed three major vehicle launches in the first half of 2027, alongside updates to an existing model and a new light commercial vehicle by June 2027. The upcoming lineup includes the production version of the Vision S concept, the BE 07 electric SUV, and the Scorpio Lifestyler pickup truck.
Upcoming Vehicles
The Vision S SUV will be the first model built on Mahindra's new NU_IQ platform, which supports petrol, diesel, hybrid, and electric options. Slated for a Q1 2027 launch, this sub-four-meter vehicle will feature boxy styling, flush door handles, and advanced tech like Level-2 ADAS on higher trims. Meanwhile, the electric BE 07 will expand Mahindra's INGLO electric vehicle range by Q1 2027, featuring battery pack options of 59 kWh and 79 kWh. The Scorpio Lifestyler pickup, based on the Scorpio N chassis, is slated to start below Rs 19.79 lakh and will target both domestic and global markets.
Production Expansion
To keep up with high demand, Mahindra is scaling up its manufacturing output. The company's current SUV and EV production capacity stands at 68,000 units per month as of September 2026. This figure will rise to 82,000 units per month by fiscal year 2027, split between 70,000 ICE SUVs and 12,000 EVs. Further expansion will add 10,000 units at the Chakan plant, push total capacity to 92,000 units by March 2028, and establish a new plant in Nagpur targeting 40,000 units of added capacity by September 2030.
Context
Automobile manufacturers often ramp up production capacity and introduce new platforms to capture a larger share of the fast-growing market for SUVs and electric vehicles. Introducing flexible platforms that support multiple fuel types allows companies to adapt quickly to changing consumer demands and government regulations.
