The Nifty 50 and Sensex extended their winning streak to a seventh straight session on Friday, rising despite a selloff in global markets as strong domestic cues pushed Dalal Street higher. The Sensex surged 1,718.01 points, or 2.17 percent, to close at the day's high of 81,028.02. The NSE Nifty 50 rose 493.75 points, or 2.01 percent, to settle at 25,030.35, hitting a nine-month high not seen since February 2, 2026. Buying was seen across multiple sectors.

Market Supports

The market rally was supported by sustained foreign fund inflows, lower crude oil prices, healthy second-quarter corporate earnings, and a strengthening rupee. Ahead of the Diwali Muhurat trading session, Chandan Taparia, Head of Derivatives and Technicals for Wealth Management at Motilal Oswal Financial Services, recommended four specific stocks across diverse sectors.

Stock Picks

His four recommended picks are Meesho, Eternal, Multi Commodity Exchange of India, and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone. Meesho is trading near its all-time high zone with strong bullish momentum and support near the 255 zone. Eternal has shown a fresh pole-and-flag breakout and nears a rounding-bottom breakout above the 370 zone. Multi Commodity Exchange of India is scaling new highs supported by increased trading activity in the commodity segment and a strong relative strength index. Adani Ports has formed a solid base around the 1600 zone and is trading near its all-time high zone following a steady recovery.

Context

Diwali Muhurat trading is a symbolic, hour-long stock market trading session held annually during the Hindu festival of light, widely considered an auspicious time by Indian investors to start new trading accounts or investments. Broking firms regularly release analyst recommendations for this special session based on technical chart patterns and market trends.
