Reported by Manish Reddy (Senior Writer) · The Hindu - National ·
Labour Minister Santosh Lad has directed government officials to make sure that welfare schemes reach every eligible person and that public complaints are fixed on time.
Praja Seva Campaign
Mr. Lad spoke on Saturday while opening a district-level Praja Seva campaign event in Bammigatti village located in Kalaghatagi taluk. He explained that the State government started this campaign to bring welfare programs straight to people's homes. He told officials to visit villages, hear out public problems, and clear applications on the spot whenever they can. Any pending issues will be taken up at the taluk, district, and State levels.
Distribution and Applications
During the meeting, authorities collected 142 applications dealing with housing, road work, and school upgrades. The Animal Husbandry Department handed out seeds to eligible people, and the Industries Department gave sewing machines to women. The Hubballi Electricity Supply Company Limited gave 5 lakh rupees as compensation to Shilpa Matrodi after her husband passed away while on duty. People from Devikoppa and Bammigatti also handed in requests asking for better roads. Along with this, 22 residents in Bammigatti got E-Swathu certificates through the Bhoo Guarantee scheme, which counts as the sixth guarantee initiative of the State government.
Context
Public outreach campaigns like this are commonly used by government leaders in India to bridge the gap between rural citizens and administration. These local grievance redressal camps let people submit documents and seek direct help from district authorities without needing to travel to city offices.
