Priyanka Chopra announces Ventilator 2 for 2027 release

Actor Priyanka Chopra has announced Ventilator 2, a sequel to her hit 2016 Marathi comedy-drama Ventilator. The upcoming film is slated for a 2027 release and will be produced by Priyanka, her mother Dr Madhu Chopra, and filmmaker Rajesh Mapuskar under their respective banners, Purple Pebble Pictures and Magij Pictures.

The Original Film

Released a decade ago, the first installment was set during Ganesh Chaturthi and followed the Kamerkar family gathering at a hospital after their elderly relative, Gajanan, fell ill just days before the festival. The plot blended humour with emotional family drama, showcasing generational gaps and old tensions. The original feature won three National Film Awards, including Best Director for Mapuskar, alongside honours for Best Editing and Best Sound Mixing. Its success served as the launchpad for Purple Pebble Pictures, a company Priyanka started to champion meaningful narratives.

While plot specifics and the upcoming cast remain under wraps, the new project marks a major milestone for the production house as it revisits one of its most celebrated early titles.
