Four suspects have been arrested for the murder of two elderly women in Vachunur village, solving two murder‑for‑gain cases that shocked the community. Bhudamma, 103, was suffocated at her home on August 16, and Lachavva, 80, who also lived alone, was killed on October 31. In both cases the killers stole gold ornaments belonging to the victims. A detailed probe by the LMD police identified four residents of Vachunur as the accused: Madduri Sai, 24; Kinnera Raju, 25; A. Raju, 25; and M. Pavan Kumar, 28. A fifth suspect remains at large. The arrests were made in Karimnagar on Saturday after intensive investigation. Karimnagar Police Commissioner Gaush Alam praised the local officers for their coordinated effort in cracking the cases. ## Context Elderly people living alone are vulnerable targets for theft‑related murders, and swift police action in such cases helps deter similar crimes and reassures the community.
