Science & EnvironmentISRO team heads rally to promote space science in Rajamahendravaram

ISRO scientists from the Satish Dhavan Space Centre (SDSC‑SHAR) in Sriharikota led a space‑awareness rally in Rajamahendravaram on Wednesday. Students, academicians and bureaucrats marched between Government Arts College and Anam Kalakendram as the rally began. Principal R. Ramachandra Rao of Government Arts College flagged off the procession and said the event will help students and civil‑society members understand ISRO’s contributions and India’s progress in space science. The rally is timed ahead of a two‑day International Space Week that starts Thursday at Anam Kalakendram. During the celebrations ISRO scientists will display replica models of Indian satellites and explain details of the country’s space programmes. Organisers expect the displays and talks to spark interest among young people and showcase recent achievements such as the Chandrayaan‑4 landing and the Gaganyaan crewed mission. The event forms part of a broader push by ISRO to raise public awareness about space technology and its applications in areas like communications, weather forecasting and navigation. ## Context Space‑awareness rallies like this are a regular feature of ISRO’s outreach, aiming to connect scientific work with everyday life and inspire the next generation of engineers and scientists.
