Ericsson will export made-in-India antennas and telecom gear to Europe and other global markets for the first time.

Production Milestones

The Swedish manufacturer announced the export plans on Wednesday, October 7, at the tenth edition of the India Mobile Congress 2026 in New Delhi. The company stated that it has produced more than 15,000 antennas and 25 million components in India since July 2025. Its local manufacturing capabilities now cover sourcing, engineering, production, and exports.

Event Details

The four-day annual telecom conference takes place at Yashobhoomi from October 7 to October 10. The event is organised jointly by the Department of Telecommunications and the Cellular Operators Association of India, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to formally inaugurate it.

Executive Comments

Andres Vicente, CEO of Southeast Asia, Oceania and India at Ericsson, said the production figures show how quickly the local ecosystem is developing. Mikael Eriksson, Head of Ericsson Antenna System, added that expanding these capabilities strengthens both local customer service and India's contribution to global operations. The company's antenna portfolio supports 5G standalone networks, AI-ready systems, and energy-efficient network operations.

Context

This production push aligns with India's broader national goal to build domestic manufacturing capacity and emerge as a global export hub for high-tech telecom equipment. Localizing the production of advanced gear like 5G-ready antennas helps major network equipment makers cut supply chain costs while meeting rising global demand.
