Apology To Village

Actor Amitabh Bachchan has publicly apologized to the residents of Babupatti, his ancestral village in Pratapgarh, for failing to complete a planned library project. Speaking on his television quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati while interacting with a contestant named Chandra Prakash Tiwari, Bachchan shared that the village holds deep roots for his family and his late father, the famous Hindi poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan, was born and raised there.

The Delayed Project

Bachchan explained that his wife Jaya Bachchan visited the village and noticed a lack of a proper reading space and study area for local children. Following this, the family decided to build a library in the village, and the physical building was constructed. However, the project remains incomplete with the building still empty, leading to local residents being upset with the family.

Context

Kaun Banega Crorepati serves as a platform where the host frequently shares personal anecdotes and memories from his past alongside conducting the game show. Ancestral ties to small towns often remain a point of connection for public figures, and community expectations around local development projects can run high when prominent families pledge support.
