OpenAI has started global rollout of GPT-6 in ChatGPT, bringing a new Intelligent UI that combines text with visuals and interactive elements. Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users get access first, while Free and Go users receive the update on Thursday, October 8.
Features
The new Intelligent UI allows the chatbot to answer quickly with fully interactive user interfaces. For example, asking about a bicycle provides an interactive diagram breaking down its parts. ChatGPT can also create tools like calculators, bill splitters, and simple games directly within the conversation. OpenAI built this interface using a library of native components and a compiler that processes interfaces as GPT-6 generates them, making interactive elements appear progressively. The model also manages reasoning by beginning to answer while still thinking or using tools.
Performance
During internal tests of everyday tasks, GPT-6 Extra High responded in about the same time as GPT-5.6 Medium while scoring higher than GPT-5.6 Extra High. Additionally, GPT-6 Instant begins responding faster on average than GPT-5.6 Instant when web search is required, and the model is better at knowing when to search for information.
Safety
OpenAI updated safety measures for GPT-6, making the model more resistant to attempts to bypass safeguards over multiple turns. It includes better protections against high-risk misuse involving cyberattacks and biological threats, alongside improved recognition of its own limits.
Context
AI companies regularly release major model updates to improve speed, reasoning capabilities, and safety guardrails. These upgrades aim to make artificial intelligence tools more practical and responsive for daily tasks and research.
