A security personnel died on the spot and five other individuals sustained injuries when a speeding truck crashed into a goods carrier and a car on National Highway 163 in Telangana. The tragic collision took place near the Pasra Forest Check Post located within the Govindaraopet mandal of Mulugu district.

The Incident

The victim was identified as M. Ramakanth, a member of the paramilitary force's 39th Battalion hailing from Karimnagar district. He was traveling alongside fellow personnel Girish Kumar, Prem Prakash, and Ram Prasad in a vehicle moving from Eturunagaram toward Mulugu when a heavy lorry lost control and rammed into them. Following this first impact, the same truck continued forward and slammed into an oncoming car directly behind the security vehicle. Two government workers inside the car, identified as junior assistant Sd Sofiya and typist P Ramesh from the local development office, became trapped and suffered injuries.

Rescue And Aftermath

Local police forces led by Tadvai Sub-Inspector K. Jagadish rushed to the site immediately after receiving word of the crash. The massive collision created a traffic gridlock stretching over two kilometers along the Warangal-Eturunagaram highway route. Authorities deployed an earth mover to clear the wrecked truck, carrier, and car from the road surface. Emergency responders transferred the injured victims to MGM Hospital in Warangal for medical care, while police moved the deceased soldier's body to Mulugu Government Hospital for an autopsy.

Context

Major national highways in forested or rural stretches often experience heavy freight movement alongside local traffic, creating serious risks when speeding heavy vehicles lose control. Paramilitary forces regularly move between district outposts for operational duties, making them vulnerable to unexpected transit mishaps on high-speed routes.
