BMW Motorrad has teased a new fully faired motorcycle, expected to be named the F 450 RR, with a global reveal scheduled for October 15 at 8:30 PM IST. The teaser was shared on social media on October 8, coming just a week after the company unveiled the F 450 R naked roadster on October 1.
What Happened
The new motorcycle extends BMW's 420cc twin-engine platform into a third distinct category, following the adventure-touring F 450 GS and the sport-naked F 450 R. The darkened teaser image shows a full fairing, a raised windscreen, mirrors on the front cowl, and handlebars positioned lower than the F 450 R for a forward-leaning riding posture. According to Rushlane, the bike features a sculpted fuel tank, a low rider's seat, a sharply raised tail, alloy wheels, and a front disc brake, accompanied by the caption "Something's waiting in the fast lane."
Performance
The upcoming model is expected to share its engine with its platform siblings. Despite the 450 name, the platform uses a 420cc, liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine with dual overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder. In the F 450 R, this unit produces 48 horsepower at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm, paired with a six-speed gearbox. Similar output figures are likely for the RR, alongside features like Shift Assistant Pro and Easy Ride Clutch technology that lets riders move off without using the clutch lever. The F 450 R uses a tubular steel frame, USD front forks, a rear monoshock, and 17-inch alloy wheels, and the RR is expected to feature a similar foundation with adapted ergonomics, alongside a 6.5-inch TFT display, riding modes, and cornering ABS.
Manufacturing
The new RR will be manufactured at the TVS plant in India alongside the GS and R models, continuing the existing BMW and TVS manufacturing partnership. An India launch for the motorcycle is likely in 2027.
Context
Automakers often build multiple body styles on a single shared engine platform to save development costs while targeting different buyer preferences. BMW previously used a similar three-model structure with its smaller G 310 range, covering naked, adventure, and fully faired formats.
