Hyderabad Police have urged citizens to stop celebrating birthdays and cutting cakes at midnight on Tank Bund, main roads, lakes, and parks. CP Sajjanar released a video message stating that celebrations meant for joy are instead bringing heavy losses to families. He recalled a recent midnight road accident on Tank Bund where a six-year-old child and another person died after a family went there for a birthday. Police are taking strict preventive steps to stop such incidents in the future. Birthdays are personal family events that should be celebrated only at home or in safe places. Vehicles speed recklessly at midnight because traffic is low, making it unsafe to bring small children onto public roads. Tank Bund celebrations are fully banned under rules, and the GHMC has issued clear orders on this earlier. Even though police turn visitors away, people return at night to hold parties, causing tragic accidents. Citizens must avoid risking precious lives for momentary joy and cooperate with city police by keeping away from public spots at night.

Context

Public safety rules in Indian cities often restrict late-night gatherings in prominent areas to prevent traffic accidents and maintain law and order. Local civic bodies like municipal corporations work alongside law enforcement to enforce bans on unauthorized public events. Such warnings highlight the common dangers of speeding vehicles on empty night roads.
