Trailer Launch

Producer Ravi Shankar of Mythri Movie Makers urged social media trolls to stop attacking lead actor Vijay Deverakonda during the trailer launch of the upcoming period action film Ranabaali. Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, the movie also stars Rashmika Mandanna and is scheduled to release in theatres on October 16.

Producer's Appeal

Ravi stated that he has known Vijay for nearly ten years and described him as an extraordinary, soft, and nice person who cares about nothing outside of his roles and cinema. He called out negative propaganda against the actor and shared an instance where a social media handle questioned a story about British colonial rule even before the trailer came out. He asked people to remove negativity from their hearts and watch the film with a positive mindset.

Vijay's Response

Vijay brushed off the online hate when asked about the trolling he and Rashmika face, noting that even figures like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rajinikanth, and Mahatma Gandhi get trolled on social media. He also described the hate directed at him as manufactured and paid, claiming that those paying the trolls will soon replace them with artificial intelligence. The film is facing a box office clash with Nelson Dilipkumar's Rajinikanth-starrer Jailer 2, which releases on October 15.

Context

Social media trolling and online negativity have become common challenges for film teams during promotional campaigns in the entertainment industry. Producers often address public backlash directly at promotional events to clear the air before a major release. Meanwhile, festive or busy holiday release windows frequently lead to high-profile box office clashes between competing films.
