Honda has rolled out the first major lifecycle update for the Elevate SUV in 2026, bringing cosmetic changes, interior tweaks, and new features to face off against the popular Hyundai Creta.

Dimensions and Engines

Comparing the top ZX+ and King trims, the Elevate measures 4,312mm in length against the Creta's 4,330mm, but beats its rival by standing 15mm taller, featuring a 40mm longer wheelbase at 2,650mm, and offering a higher ground clearance of 220mm along with a 458-litre boot. Both SUVs share an identical width of 1,790mm. Under the hood, the Elevate relies solely on a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 120hp and 145Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual or CVT gearbox. The Creta offers the same petrol setup making 115hp, but also provides diesel and direct-injection turbo-petrol engine options.

Features and Safety

On the outside, the Elevate features LED fog lamps, while the Creta counters with larger 18-inch wheels, puddle lamps, and matte-finish paint options. Inside, the Elevate introduces segment-only rear seat ventilation alongside powered and ventilated front seats. However, the Creta includes a panoramic sunroof, a larger 10.25-inch digital driver display, dual-zone climate control, and a powered boss mode. Both vehicles come equipped with Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree cameras, and six airbags, though the Creta adds a factory-fitted dashcam and standard rear disc brakes.

Pricing and Verdict

In terms of pricing for naturally aspirated petrol variants, the manual Elevate costs Rs 16.89 lakh while the manual Creta is priced at Rs 17.27 lakh, making the Honda Rs 38,000 more affordable. Despite the price difference, the Hyundai takes the win for its broader powertrain choices and extensive feature list.

Context

Mid-size SUVs remain one of the most competitive segments in the Indian passenger vehicle market, where brands frequently update models to capture buyer interest. Comparing top-tier variants helps consumers evaluate whether a lower price tag outweighs the benefit of extra features and diverse engine options.
