BJP chief Nitin Nabin accuses opposition of sowing anarchy with foreign help

BJP president Nitin Nabin said Rahul Gandhi, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and the Cockroach Janta Party are trying to create anarchy in India with foreign support. The accusation came after police stopped a protest at Jantar Mantar on Saturday that demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Protesters and opposition leaders were detained across Delhi as police barred them from converging on the site. Nabin warned the opposition and the CJP that the government would deal sternly with their “nefarious intentions” and that BJP workers would foil their designs on the ground. The remarks were made against the backdrop of a social‑media row involving US billionaire Elon Musk. Musk had posted about a delay in the Indian launch of his Starlink satellite service and labelled industrialist Mukesh Ambani as the “prime minister” and “real boss of India”. Rahul Gandhi replied, “Welcome to India, Elon. Wait till you discover the other guy.” Nabin said an attempt is being made to destabilise a nation of 140 crore people who are contributing to development in peace. He claimed the two “anarchic groups” – the INDI alliance led by Gandhi and the CJP led by Kejriwal’s colleagues – are competing to trigger more destabilisation. He added that the opposition is acting at the direction of foreign powers while the country moves forward despite a global crisis. The BJP recalled that a CJP protest in July had injured children and police and damaged public property, prompting precautionary restrictions in Delhi. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan called the protest an opposition conspiracy and accused Gandhi of supporting foreign critics. Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said Indian democracy is rejecting the quest for anarchy and will be governed through Parliament, not streets. In Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, saying the “double‑engine government” will not accept anarchy and will protect India’s honour, pride and glory.
Context
Protests against the Election Commission are a recurring feature of Indian politics, often sparking heated accusations between rival parties. The BJP frequently alleges that opposition leaders receive backing from foreign entities to undermine the government’s stability.
