Volvo India will unveil its flagship electric EX90 SUV on October 12, 2026. The launch will be paired with the ES90 sedan, and both models sit on Volvo's SPA2 platform built solely for electric vehicles. In the Indian lineup the EX90 sits above the smaller EX30 and EC40 and is meant to replace the ICE‑powered XC90 as the brand’s top‑size SUV. Pricing is expected between Rs 1.4 crore and Rs 1.5 crore ex‑showroom, putting it in direct competition with the Mercedes‑Benz EQS and Kia EV9. The EX90 will be offered in a single fully‑loaded trim. It houses a 106 kWh battery and a dual‑motor set‑up that delivers 456 hp and 670 Nm of torque, sending power to all wheels. Volvo claims a 0‑100 kph sprint in 5.5 seconds and a WLTP‑rated range of 625 km, while a road test recorded 530 km. AC charging at 11 kW takes about 11 hours, and the 800 V system can accept up to 350 kW DC for rapid top‑ups. The exterior follows Volvo’s restrained design language. LED daytime running lights feature the ‘Thor’s Hammer’ signature, the grille is blanked out with the badge at centre, and the bumpers carry slim DRL strips. Flush door handles, a rising window line and 21‑inch dual‑tone alloy wheels give the side profile a clean look. The rear combines split LED tail‑lamps with C‑shaped units and vertical strips on the D‑pillar; boot capacity is 324 L with the third row up and 690 L when the seats are folded. Inside, a two‑tone grey‑and‑white cabin uses open‑pore wood, brushed aluminium and Nappa‑leather upholstery. A vertical 14.5‑inch infotainment screen runs the centre console, complemented by a wireless charger and a rotary media knob. The SUV seats six in a 2+2+2 layout with captain chairs in the middle row. Standard equipment includes a 9‑inch digital driver display, Google‑powered infotainment, a 25‑speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system, powered, ventilated and massaging front seats, an electrochromic panoramic glass roof, 4‑zone climate control, nine airbags, an ADAS suite, a 360‑degree camera and automatic parking. ## Context Volvo’s SPA2 platform underpins all its new electric models, allowing the company to offer a full‑size EV SUV in India as the market shifts toward stricter emissions norms and greater consumer interest in zero‑emission cars.
