The Aprilia Tuareg 660 runs on a 659cc parallel-twin engine shared with the RS660 supersport model. This liquid-cooled engine puts out 80 horsepower at 9,250 rpm and 70 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm, and it works with a 6-speed gearbox. Aprilia tuned this motor to give better power control at low and middle speeds.

Upgrades

The Tuareg Rally variant gets bigger 52mm throttle bodies and an SC-project titanium exhaust system, which brings its total weight down to 199kg. The standard model uses fully adjustable 43mm KYB USD front forks and a rear monoshock, both giving 240mm of wheel travel. The Rally version steps up to race-tuned linear-rate springs, an 880mm saddle, and heavy-duty Ergal spoked wheels with tube-type off-road tyres. The standard bike instead uses tubeless 21-inch front and 18-inch rear cross-spoked wheels, while side panniers remain optional add-ons.

Technology

Both bikes come with the APRC ride-by-wire system and a 5-inch color TFT display. Riders can choose from four modes named Urban, Explore, Off-road, and Individual. Both traction control and multi-map ABS can be turned off completely for serious off-road riding. In India, the standard Tuareg 660 has an ex-showroom price of Rs 20.15 lakh, and the Rally model will cost even more.

Context

Adventure motorcycles are designed to handle both paved roads and rough dirt trails with equal ease. Higher-end variants like the Tuareg Rally usually target serious off-road riders who need tougher parts for rough terrain.
