The Board of Control for Cricket in India has cleared up rumors by stating that the first one-day international match between India and Sri Lanka will stay in Delhi instead of moving to Ahmedabad. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia shared that the match on December 13 was given to Delhi based on normal board policy and no venue change has happened. Earlier news reports claimed the game might shift to Ahmedabad because of repair work happening at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Ahmedabad is still set to host the final match of the series on December 19.
Context
Bilateral cricket matches in India are usually shared across various stadiums around the country according to established board policies. The Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi is a regular stop for international cricket matches on the home calendar.
