Renault has showcased the new E-Space concept at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, pointing to a possible return of its classic MPV body style as an electric vehicle.
Design And Layout
Brand design director Alexandre Malval states the concept features a clean look stripped of visual clutter. The front includes U-shaped LED lights, a blanked-off grille, and a floating illuminated logo. Its steeply angled windscreen links back to the original 1984 model, drawing inspiration from the French TGV train. The vehicle measures 4.70 metres in length, 2.02 metres in width, and 1.67 metres in height, riding on 24-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin seats six people across three rows and brings back bright pop colours from the 1970s. It features a dashboard-wide OpenR Panorama screen, a separate touch display for music and maps, a yoke steering wheel with touch buttons, and a steer-by-wire system.
Platform And Future Plans
Renault has not yet shared powertrain or platform details for the concept. However, the company is working on a new RGEV Medium 2.0 platform featuring an 800-volt system. If built, the production version could use this platform and target a WLTP driving range of up to 750 kilometres. This model follows other electric revivals by the brand like the Twingo, Renault 4, and Renault 5.
Context
Automakers often use concept cars at major auto shows to test public interest in bringing classic vehicle names back to life with modern electric technology. The MPV format was once very popular for family transport in Europe before buyers largely shifted toward sports utility vehicles in recent years.
