A powerful blast shook a forward village along the Line of Control in the Krishna Ghati sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Monday.

Investigation and Casualties

Security forces stepped up watch in the area after officials suspected an improvised explosive device went off. The blast happened in the Satwal-Naki area near the zero line as a group moved along the Line of Control on the Pakistan side, and casualties were reported from the scene though exact details were not known right away. Officials noted it remains unclear if the group involved suspected terrorists trying to cross the Line of Control or Pakistan security personnel on patrol. Authorities are still working to find out the exact events that caused the explosion.

Context

The Line of Control serves as the military control line between the Indian and Pakistani controlled parts of the former princely state of Jammu and Kashmir, remaining a heavily guarded and sensitive border region where security incidents often occur.
