India Post has published the 2026 merit list for the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) recruitment, which offers 23,757 vacancies across the postal network. The first merit list was made public on 12 October 2026. The list, generated by a computer system, ranks candidates on the basis of their 10th‑standard board marks, converting grades or points into a percentage accurate to four decimal places. Applicants can view the circle‑wise list on the official India Post website at indiapost.gov.in or directly through the GDS online engagement portal at indiapost.gov.in/gdsonlineengagement. To access the list, candidates must select the Schedule‑II, July 2026 section, choose their postal circle, download the PDF and search for their name or registration number. The merit list entry shows the division office, post ID, post name, community, registration number and the calculated percentage. Shortlisted candidates are required to report to the divisional office of the listed division for physical document verification, bringing original certificates and two photocopies of each. The verification deadline is set for 27 October 2026. The Department of Posts warns applicants to rely only on official communications from email addresses ending in @indiapost.gov.in or @indiapostgdsonline.gov.in and to ignore any fraudulent requests for money or personal data. Candidates should download and keep the PDF for future reference.

Context

The GDS recruitment is an annual drive by the Department of Posts to staff rural post offices, and merit‑based shortlisting based on 10th‑grade scores is a standard practice for this entry‑level position.
