Sensex and Nifty rebounded in early trade on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, led by gains in HDFC Bank and major IT stocks. The BSE Sensex rose 305 points to 72,224.15 and the NSE Nifty gained 93.40 points to 22,458.50, erasing most of Monday’s losses. HCL Tech jumped almost 5% after reporting a 21.18% rise in consolidated net profit to ₹5,132 crore for the July‑September quarter of FY27, citing higher margins from its fast‑growing advanced AI operations and a lower tax outgo. Tata Consultancy Services, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, HDFC Bank and Trent also posted gains, while NTPC, Power Grid, Maruti and Kotak Mahindra Bank lagged. Brent crude fell 1.08% to $105.5 a barrel. Asian indices opened lower, with South Korea’s Kospi sharply down and Japan’s Nikkei 225, Shanghai’s SSE Composite and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng also trading lower. U.S. markets closed mostly lower on Monday. Foreign Institutional Investors sold ₹1,708.48 crore of Indian equities on Monday, after the Sensex had tumbled 547.65 points to 71,924.68 and the Nifty dropped 157.10 points to 22,363.35 the previous day. ## Context The rebound shows how strong earnings from IT firms, especially in AI, can quickly lift broader market sentiment after a day of selling by foreign investors.
