Hyundai has revealed the sporty N Line version of its Bayon SUV at the Paris Motor Show, joining a host of reinvented models on display. The Bayon N Line shares its basic body shape with the upcoming India-spec model but brings distinct styling tweaks and different engine options.
Design and Interior
Up front, the N Line features an open-style bumper with black cladding, winglets, a honeycomb grille, and an N Line badge. The sides boast gloss-black ORVMs, larger 18-inch alloy wheels, slimmer roof rails, and fender badges, while the rear gets a twin-ridge roof spoiler, dual exhaust tips, and a black bumper. Inside, the cabin carries a black theme with red accents, Alcantara-style seat upholstery, and a unique steering wheel and gear lever. Features include dual 12.3-inch displays, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and an 8-speaker Bose sound system, though it misses out on the generative AI voice assistant planned for the India-spec version.
Performance and Specs
While the India-spec Bayon relies on a 115hp 1.5-litre petrol engine with manual or CVT options, the N Line uses a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol motor offering 90hp or 115hp, paired with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. It achieves zero to 100kph in 10.8 to 14.1 seconds. A strong-hybrid variant with a 1.6-litre engine and an electric motor producing a combined 138hp will launch later in Europe. Meanwhile, Hyundai has not confirmed an Indian launch for the N Line, as the local model focuses on practical driving and an upcoming CNG variant.
Context
Motor shows serve as major global platforms where carmakers showcase new vehicle lineups and performance variants to the public and media. The Bayon slots between smaller hatchbacks and larger midsize SUVs in Hyundai's global portfolio.
