Paris Debut
Kia has showcased the second-generation Seltos Hybrid at the Paris Motor Show, marking the vehicle's debut for the European market. The model is scheduled to go on sale in Europe during the fourth quarter of 2026 with a price tag of around EUR 40k, which is roughly Rs 42 lakh.
Powertrain Details
The hybrid setup pairs a 1.6-litre petrol engine delivering 102 bhp and 141 Nm of torque with an electric motor rated at 129 bhp and 388 Nm. The engine connects to a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission, while the battery-powered electric motor sits at the rear axle to drive the rear wheels for an e-AWD system. Kia claims a fuel efficiency of 14.71 km/l for the setup, which also includes a V2L feature and pure electric driving capabilities at slow speeds through regenerative braking.
Market Plans
As Kia's second best-selling vehicle worldwide, the Seltos Hybrid joins models like the Sportage, K4, and Niro in Europe, where it will compete with vehicles such as the Renault Captur E-Tech and Toyota C-HR. While a global version uses the 1.6-litre engine, a separate version based on a 1.5-litre petrol engine is expected to launch in India in 2027.
Context
Automakers frequently use major international auto shows to introduce new electrified powertrains to global markets as emissions rules shift. Hybrid technology allows vehicles to reduce fuel consumption without requiring drivers to plug into external charging stations.
