The Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG has been spied with a twin-cylinder setup designed to save boot space, just ahead of its official launch. This new variant expands the sub-4m SUV's fuel lineup alongside existing turbo-petrol, diesel, and electric options.
Interior and Features
Spy images reveal a dedicated CNG and petrol selector button placed below the driver-side AC vent next to the headlamp leveling control. The cabin keeps its light-colored lower dashboard and gloss-black trim, while the exterior shows dual-tone alloy wheels, turn-indicator ORVMs, and familiar headlamps and DRLs. The spied model features a manual transmission and a single-pane sunroof, though Mahindra's official teaser confirmed that a panoramic sunroof will also be available on higher trims.
Performance and Setup
The vehicle uses a pair of CNG cylinders positioned side by side beneath the boot floor and secured with metal straps, leaving the main luggage area free for bags much like the Nexon i-CNG setup. The model is expected to run on a 1.2-litre turbocharged MPFI petrol engine that produces about 110 bhp and 200 Nm of torque when running on petrol, while official figures for CNG-mode power output, cylinder capacity, certified mileage, and transmission choices remain unannounced by Mahindra.
Context
Factory-fitted twin-cylinder CNG systems have become increasingly popular among Indian car buyers because they solve the old problem of losing all luggage space to a large gas tank. This launch comes during a strong sales period for the manufacturer, as the XUV 3XO lineup recorded 8,302 units sold in August 2026, marking a 50.37 percent jump compared to the previous year.
