Toyota has launched the 2026 Glanza facelift in India with an ex-showroom starting price of Rs 6.99 lakh. The updated hatchback comes in five trims named E, S, G, V, and V (O). It features a new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine along with a revised front design and new cabin equipment.
Performance and Engine
A new Z12E 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated engine powers the hatchback, replacing the older four-cylinder unit. This motor runs on both petrol and CNG fuels. In petrol mode, it delivers 83hp and 112Nm of torque, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automated manual transmission. While the petrol output drops by 7hp and 1Nm compared to the previous model, fuel efficiency increases slightly and includes an idle start/stop function. Running on CNG, the same engine generates 70hp and 102Nm of torque, offering 7hp less power but 4.5Nm more torque than before, alongside higher claimed mileage. Buyers can also pick the 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT for CNG options.
Design and Features
The updated front exterior showcases a larger grille with chrome trims on both sides, housing a radar module for advanced driver assistance systems. While the headlights remain unchanged, the LED fog lamps are redesigned, and the Toyota logo moves to the plastic trim under the bonnet. Additional exterior updates include a shark-fin antenna and two new paint choices. The side profile retains 16-inch alloy wheels, chrome door handles, and chrome window line trim. The rear section stays identical to the previous version, featuring wraparound LED taillights, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a rear wiper with washer. Inside, the dashboard is unchanged, but new additions include ventilated front seats and a wireless phone charger.
Context
In the Indian hatchback market, the Toyota Glanza competes directly against models like the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, Hyundai i20 N Line, and Tata Altroz. Facelift updates like these help carmakers refresh existing vehicle lineups to attract new buyers without engineering an entirely new generation from scratch.
