The new horror comedy film Nayyi Navelli, starring Yami Gautam Dhar, has received a U/A censor certificate after makers made several edits requested by the Central Board of Film Certification. The Examining Committee of the CBFC cleared the movie on October 12 ahead of its Friday release on October 16.

Censor Edits

The censor board asked the makers to redraft the opening disclaimer to state that the film is a work of fiction and that the makers follow the rules. An anti-drug disclaimer was also added to the start of the movie. A visual and the background music in the climax were suitably modified. A static was added to scenes showing masala eating wherever they appeared in the film.

Dialogue Cuts

The board also required changes to the dialogue spoken by the character Mohini, played by Yami Gautam Dhar. As a result of these modifications, 57 seconds of her dialogue were censored across the film. The final approved runtime of the movie stands at 138 minutes, which equals two hours and 18 minutes.

Cast and Background

Apart from Yami Gautam Dhar, the movie features Addinath M Kothare, Anurag Thakur, and Sunita Rajwar in the cast. Yami recently won a National Award for her work in the 2024 film Article 370.

Context

Film certification bodies routinely review movies for content adjustments and required disclaimers before granting public release permits in India. These standard clearance procedures often involve minor edits to visuals, audio, or text to meet certification guidelines.
