Details and Runtime
Nitesh Tiwari's upcoming epic film Ramayana: Rise of a Legend has received a PG-13 rating in the United States from the Motion Picture Association due to strong violence, action sequences, and bloody images. IMAX listings place the film's runtime at 3 hours and 15 minutes, though trade sources suggest the English-language version may run for around 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Cast and Crew
The movie stars Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, Arun Govil as Dashrath, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Sheeba Chaddha as Manthara, and Anupam Kher as Jatayu. The project is directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Prime Focus Studios alongside Yash's Monster Mind Creations and visual effects company DNEG. Sony Pictures will handle international distribution outside India, while Dharma Productions manages the Hindi-market release.
Promotional Plans
The second international trailer is scheduled for release in Bengaluru on October 15. The first part of the two-part cinematic release is scheduled for November 5, 2026, with the second part planned for Diwali 2027 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
Context
Major cinematic releases often undergo international age rating and runtime certification processes weeks ahead of their theatrical debuts to meet global distribution requirements. A PG-13 rating advises parental guidance for younger audiences, comparable to India's U/A certification. Blockbuster epic films frequently feature extended runtimes to accommodate extensive storytelling and battle sequences.
