UPDATE - follow-up to Production-spec Honda 0 Alpha India debut on December 2: Honda India will debut the production version of its 0 Alpha electric vehicle on December 2, marking the carmaker's very first all-electric vehicle for the local market.

Vehicle Details

Sources indicate the final product name will be announced in November, following test sightings of a heavily disguised prototype on local roads. The SUV will offer two battery pack options using LFP chemistry with capacities likely between 65kWh and 75kWh. At launch, the vehicle is expected to feature a single-motor, front-wheel-drive layout.

Design and Interior

The exterior keeps the bold shape of the 0 Alpha concept first shown in October 2025, featuring an upright rear end, a thick C-pillar, and a large rear windscreen. The front nose will likely house an illuminated Honda logo with the charging port, flanked by headlamps. Inside, spy shots reveal a large dashboard touchscreen next to a smaller digital driver's display, a flat-bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters, and physical buttons on the center console for climate control and ventilated seats.

Production and Rivals

The SUV will feature a wheelbase of roughly 2,700 to 2,800mm to maximize cabin room. Manufacturing will take place at Honda's Tapukara plant in Rajasthan. Once launched, it will compete against midsize electric rivals including the Mahindra BE 6, MG ZS EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Sierra EV, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella.

Context

Automakers frequently test heavily camouflaged prototypes on public roads to fine-tune vehicle performance under local weather and traffic conditions before mass production begins. Launching a locally manufactured electric midsize SUV allows traditional car brands to compete directly in India's fast-growing battery vehicle segment.
