Russia's main domestic security agency has arrested a Swedish citizen on suspicion of illegally crossing the country's border. The Federal Security Service, known as the FSB, stated that the arrest took place in the northwestern Pskov region on Thursday, October 15, 2026. Officials did not reveal the name of the detained man.
Background
According to the security agency, the Swedish national previously served in a military drone unit in Ukraine and fought against Russian forces. The FSB claimed the man stated he wanted to join the Russian military, but authorities believe this statement was a cover story for plans to carry out sabotage attacks on Russian military sites.
