Indian pharma market posts 13% August growth, price hikes and new launches drive gain
Reported by Pooja Nair (Section Editor) · Livemint - Markets ·
Indian pharma market grew 13% year‑on‑year in August, reaching revenue of ₹24,800 crore. The growth rate was slightly lower than July’s 14% rise. Higher prices and fresh product launches were the main drivers. Sales of monsoon‑linked medicines such as respiratory and anti‑infective drugs stayed weak. Analysts say the price rise could bring back pricing power for companies and help the September quarter of FY2027.
