DMK president M.K. Stalin has demanded the immediate release of two student leaders who were detained by Delhi Police on Friday, October 16, 2026. The police took Cockroach Janta Party leader Abhijeet Dipke and All India Students Association chief Neha Bora into custody while they were heading to Connaught Place to join the 'Lehra Do Tiranga' protest.

Reaction

Stalin strongly criticized the police action. He asked where the two leaders were and called their detention both blatantly illegal and deeply inhumane, noting that authorities kept their whereabouts hidden.

Context

Detaining political and student activists during public protests often leads to sharp clashes between opposition parties and law enforcement agencies over civil liberties. Such actions frequently draw strong condemnation from regional political leaders who accuse the ruling administration of trying to silence dissent.
