The Andhra Pradesh CID has asked AgriGold depositors, victims, nominees, legal heirs and agents to bring their original bonds and receipts for verification at designated centres. Officials clarified that these original documents will only be examined and do not need to be surrendered.
Verification Rules
Living depositors must produce their original bond, a signed colour photocopy, Aadhaar, PAN, bank passbook, latest photograph, mobile numbers and agent details if they have them. Nominees of depositors who have passed away must submit the bond along with a death certificate, identity documents, family certificate, bank details and a photograph. When both the depositor and the nominee are no longer alive, legal heirs need to present the relevant death certificates, identity documents, a legal-heir or family certificate, bank details and other records. Depositors who cannot visit in person may send a family member by giving them an authorisation letter and proof of relationship. Agents turning in bonds must show every original bond, submit signed colour copies, write down individual bond numbers and provide their Aadhaar, PAN, bank details, photograph, mobile number and agent code. The CID noted that all details like bond numbers must be clearly visible, and colour copies require a signature from the depositor, nominee or legal heir. An acknowledgement receipt will be given for all submitted papers.
Centres and Contacts
Special teams are being set up at designated spots after a decision by a five-member Group of Ministers. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu formed this group to review AgriGold depositor issues and help provide relief. Verification camps will open at the district police headquarters of the 13 erstwhile districts, running daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Specific dates and addresses for each district will be announced later. In Guntur, CID DSP Sk. Abdul Basheer and IOP T. Sanjeevi Kumar are the designated officers to handle queries, and citizens can contact them at their respective phone numbers provided by authorities.
Context
Large financial fraud cases involving collective investment schemes often leave thousands of small savers struggling for years to recover their hard-earned money. State police and criminal investigation departments frequently step in to verify legitimate claims through camps like these before any court-ordered financial relief or payout can reach genuine victims.
