MP Yaduveer defends full-scale Mysuru Dasara celebrations

UPDATE - follow-up to Yaduveer backs 'grand' Dasara, says festival vital to Mysuru's tourism economy: Mysuru and Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar stated that the annual Dasara festival must not be scaled down despite drought conditions because it supports local livelihoods and the tourism-driven economy. Speaking at a meet-the-press event organized by the Mysuru District Journalists' Association on Wednesday, he noted that local businesses, hotels, traders, and travel operators depend heavily on the festival for business and job creation.

Palace Crowd Control

Addressing concerns about overcrowding inside the Mysuru Palace during the Jamboo Savari, Mr. Wadiyar suggested making pass distribution transparent and using new technologies to regulate crowds. He mentioned receiving pass requests from various political figures, including Congress MPs, and welcomed the decision to number seats inside the Palace to prevent congestion. He also supported inviting neighboring State Chief Ministers to Dasara and stated that extra tableaux could be included if planned properly. However, he opposed creating a separate Dasara authority, arguing the government can manage better under the current framework, and proposed developing Mysuru into a convention city to utilize its infrastructure.
