Rapper and music producer Hirdesh Singh, known as Yo Yo Honey Singh, appeared before the Maharashtra Cyber Cell on Friday to record his statement regarding alleged objectionable remarks made during a concert. He spent over two hours being questioned by investigators before leaving the office under tight security.
Background
autoridades had issued multiple summons after a complaint was filed over his stage performance. Honey previously missed three summons dates, telling officials he was out of the country, and had his request for an October 22 appearance rejected by the agency. Officials had earlier warned that a Look Out Circular might be started if he failed to attend.
Legal Concerns
Legal proceedings have also raised questions about content availability. During an April 2 hearing, a bench noted that a song performed was vulgar, obscene, and derogatory towards women, treating them as sex objects. Advocate Rupali Panwar argued that the material remains accessible to young children on social media platforms like YouTube and requested its removal. Honey had sung two lines from the track at a public concert held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium on March 1, 2025. The overall matter remains under active investigation.
