Police have arrested two more people in connection with the seizure of 665.67 grams of suspected MDMA smuggled from Delhi on the Mangaluru Express, raising the total number of arrests to four. The latest suspects to be taken into custody are Yusuf and Noushad Ali, who both live in Mangalpady. A police team led by Nileshwaram Sub Inspector C.M. Sabu carried out the arrests.
Investigation and Court Proceedings
The earlier arrests in the case involved 33-year-old Ahmed Rukshad and 30-year-old Abdul Hameed. Investigators estimate that the seized synthetic drug is worth more than 50 lakh rupees. Police are now probing possible international links behind the drug trafficking operation. Authorities are also checking if the accused have any connection to a separate drug smuggling case in Mangaluru, where suspected MDMA worth several crores was intercepted while being sent through a courier service. All four accused appeared before the Hosdurg court and were sent to judicial custody, with police planning to seek their custody soon for further questioning.
