Belagavi police raided over 40 hotels, restaurants, clubs, pubs, and dhabas in and around the city on Saturday night. Police Commissioner Prakash Nikam led the operations alongside Deputy Commissioner Narayan Baramani and Assistant Commissioner Santosh Satyanayak.

Violations Found

Officers found multiple rule violations during the inspections. Minors were discovered serving alcohol at some venues, and other underage customers were seen consuming alcoholic beverages. Police also caught some dhabas using high-decibel loudspeakers and DJ music systems in violation of sound pollution norms. Officers turned off these systems, warned the owners not to restart them, and filed cases against them. Furthermore, some establishments were operating past allowed hours and ignoring safety standards.

Police Action

Authorities issued strict warnings and shut down several venues that broke excise rules, licensing regulations, and safety standards. Mr. Nikam stated on Sunday that maintaining public peace, law and order, and safety is the top priority. He added that no one is above the law and officers will file cases against the accused under various laws after completing the investigation.

Context

Local police authorities regularly inspect commercial nightlife spots to ensure they follow licensing conditions and safety laws. Enforcing drinking age limits and sound pollution rules helps protect public safety and neighborhood peace.
