The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation demolished portions of a Juhu property linked to actor Ajay Devgn following complaints of unauthorized construction. The 7,802-square-foot bungalow is located inside the Kapole Co-operative Housing Society. According to the Indian Express, Devgn's office clarified that the site is a rented-out property rather than the family residence, adding that they have applied for the required permissions and are complying with municipal guidelines.

BMC Action

The civic body flagged internal changes, new partition walls, and window modifications carried out without proper approvals. Officials issued a stop-work notice on September 10 under Section 354A of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act. The notice followed objections from the housing society over commercial leasing, parking issues, security concerns, and noise on narrow internal roads. After work continued despite the notice, municipal officials visited the site and used hammers to dismantle the flagged portions.

Box Office Update

The civic action coincides with the theatrical run of Ajay Devgn's latest release, Drishyam 3. The final instalment of the crime thriller released on October 2 and has crossed the Rs 500 crore mark globally at the box office, reaching Rs 520 crore according to reports. Directed by Abhishek Pathak, the film stars Devgn alongside Shriya Saran, Tabu, and Akshaye Khanna.

Context

Municipal corporations in major Indian cities regularly inspect properties for unapproved structural alterations and enforce building codes when rules are broken. Housing societies hold the authority to raise objections if tenant activities violate residential bylaws or create disturbances for other residents.
