U.S. Outreach

An Andhra University delegation led by Vice-Chancellor G.P. Raja Sekhar is visiting the United States for centenary outreach events and talks with American universities. A final meeting is set for Saturday in Fords, New Jersey. The Andhra University Alumni Association of North America hosted the first event in Sugar Land, Texas, on October 10. About 200 alumni attended, and 50 were honoured. S. Paul Douglas, Dean of International Affairs, and Prashant Kumar Sona, Consul at the Consulate General of India, Houston, joined as guests of honour.

University Talks

Mr. Raja Sekhar and Mr. Douglas met University of Houston President Renu Khator and Vice-President for Energy and Innovation Ramanan Krishnamoorti to discuss a proposed Memorandum of Understanding. Priority areas for cooperation include superconductivity, energy security, meteorology and oceanography, advanced materials, and an AI Systems Centre of Excellence. The delegation also met D.C. Manjunath, Consul General of India in Houston, to talk about prioritising MoUs with U.S. schools. Later, the team travelled to Penn State University for meetings.

Context

Centenary outreach programmes help older educational institutions connect with their global diaspora to build financial support and academic partnerships. These international ties often focus on high-tech research fields like artificial intelligence and energy studies.
