Director General of Police C.V. Anand has directed officers to step up night patrols, improve surveillance, and use technology to detect crimes better in the Malkajgiri Police Commissionerate.
Crime Numbers
The commissionerate has registered 23,747 criminal cases so far this year, compared to 18,778 cases in 2024 and 18,480 cases in 2025. Theft cases rose to 2,196 this year from 1,484 in 2024, while cheating cases increased to 2,789. Cases involving hurt went up to 1,797.

The commissionerate also recorded 41 murders and 365 kidnapping cases this year. Meanwhile, police are registering about 10 to 11 cyber crime and white-collar cases every day.
Official Actions
The DGP praised officers for solving all 17 sensational cases this year, including a case where a five-year-old girl was kidnapped and murdered at Villa Orchids in Kowkoor within 24 hours. He also reviewed the theft of firearms from Army grounds in Bolarum and the arrest of the accused person. Police Commissioner B. Sumathi stated that 235 new posts will be added to Malkajgiri following a recent reorganisation.
Context
Police commissionerates in growing urban areas often face higher crime numbers as populations expand and new residential layouts come up. Regular reviews by senior police leadership help departments spot problem areas and move resources to keep neighbourhoods safe.
