The Delhi Police have granted a no-objection certificate to the Congress party to hold a public rally at Ramlila Maidan on November 1.
Venue Details
Before approaching the police, the party checked venue availability with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. The civic body confirmed the ground would remain open from October 25 to November 3. DCP for the Central district Rohit Rajbir Singh stated that police checked security needs before issuing the clearance.
Campaign Background
This protest forms part of a nationwide campaign launched by the Congress on October 5 against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The party alleges vote theft and irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge led the meeting at Indira Bhawan where the campaign strategy was decided, alongside senior leaders including Rahul Gandhi.
Context
Ramlila Maidan stands as a major public ground in New Delhi frequently used for political rallies and large public demonstrations. Large gatherings in the capital require advance coordination between civic bodies and local police forces to manage public safety and crowd control.
