Actor Suriya advised students to replace short Instagram Reels with long-form podcasts and online research for deeper learning. Speaking at the 47th anniversary celebration of his father and veteran actor Sivakumar's Sivakumar Educational Trust, Suriya stated that watching reels only offers a basic story without real knowledge. He encouraged students to study the journeys of successful people instead.

Life Lessons And Stardom

Drawing a comparison between filmmaking and life, Suriya explained that a director never calls a take a failure but instead asks for one more attempt. He shared his own career journey, admitting he lacked acting skills at the start but achieved stardom through thirty years of continuous work. The actor also stressed the importance of gratitude, noting that multiple crew members contribute to a film performance, and urged students to uplift at least one person once they reach positions of power.

Trust Support And Impact

At the event, the trust distributed financial assistance amounting to Rs 13.78 lakh to students and educational institutions. Suriya's Agaram Foundation supports students facing social and financial barriers, helping 51 students become doctors and 1,800 pursue engineering careers. Earlier events in Chennai revealed that over 6,000 students have benefited from the foundation, with most being the first in their families to study past Class 12.

Context

Educational trusts run by film personalities often channel cinema earnings into social welfare and student scholarships in India. Public figures frequently use their platform to guide young people on career choices and social responsibility during institutional milestones.
