Rahul Gandhi said on Instagram that the country’s education set‑up operates as an exclusion system meant to push out millions of young people. He warned that youngsters without financial means, without influential connections, or who cannot speak English are discarded by the system without hesitation. Gandhi added that the arrangement cannot be called an education system at all, because it is built to keep large numbers of Indian youth on the sidelines. The leader of the opposition shared a video of his recent talk with a group of students in New Delhi, part of his nationwide "Chhatron Ki Goonj" outreach. The sixth edition of the programme, held in Chennai, marked the first time the event moved to South India. During that session he launched a sharp criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, labeling the premier as "Mogambo Modi" and telling the students that they have nothing to fear, that the Congress stands with them, and that together they will topple Modi. Before the Chennai meet, the student tour had visited other cities, including Kota, Dehradun, Prayagraj, Pune and Indore, reaching out to young people across the country.
Context
India’s schooling system has long been marked by gaps in access and quality, especially for those from poorer backgrounds or non‑English‑speaking families. Such disparities often translate into limited higher‑education and job opportunities, fueling debates about how to make education more inclusive.
