A major fire broke out at a supermarket on Jath Road in Athani town in the early hours of Sunday, causing heavy property damage. The entire building of Brahma Enterprises, which sold furniture, branded clothing, and electronic goods, was completely burnt down within a few hours. Police stated that an accidental short circuit caused the blaze, which also completely destroyed two motorcycles parked outside the store.

Response and Control

The fire was first seen at around 3 a.m. on Sunday and spread very quickly across the whole building. Local residents rushed to the spot and tried to put out the fire themselves, but they could not control it. Fire and emergency service workers arrived soon after and had to make multiple trips to refill their water tanks. Firefighters brought the situation under control after working continuously for three hours. The shop owner told police that goods worth crores of rupees were destroyed in the incident. Fortunately, no one was inside the shop when the fire started. Police from the local station visited the site to inspect the damage.

Context

Accidental short circuits are a common cause of sudden commercial fires in urban areas, often resulting in heavy financial losses for business owners. Quick response from emergency services helps prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring buildings in crowded commercial zones.
